India’s electronics manufacturing industry is valued at US $94.2 billion and it’s growing in 9.68%. The VLSI design industry alone has generated above US $12 billion in revenues in 2014. The Government has set up Electronic Hardware Technology Parks (EHTPs), Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and a brought about a favourable Modified Special Incentive Package Scheme (MSIPS) under which it will be offering up to US$ 1.7 billion in benefits to the electronics sector in next five years. This growth demands lot of trained man power. India's IC design industry forecast to create 75,000 jobs by 2020.

The endeavour of this initiative is to plot our institute in the India map in the ever growing fields of VLSI design. It is predicted that, technical institutions will lead India to supremacy in the area of Engineering Design and Technology.

With the entire World’s leading Semiconductor companies setting up their Research Lab here. It is quite justifiable that a Research Facility dedicated to VLSI Design and Technology alone will produce quality engineers who can find themselves a niche place in these Semiconductor majors. This Centre focus on all the recent developments in VLSI Design, giving a facelift to the students and researches, who study Electronics, Computer Science Engineering and make them easily employable.

The Centre of Excellence will provide a very good platform for professors working on PhD, to get funded projects from DRDO, AICTE, DST and other reputed research organization, Student’s projects, Skill development program and Industry Consultation.

MZU ARL-VLSI Facilitates:

1. To carry out R&D and PhD in domains of DSP, Embedded and VLSI. The hardware implementation and bench marking will yield good

citation and recognition in the research area. This will lead more patents filing by professors.

   DSP related:

  • Digital Signal Processing and its applications

  • Digital Image Processing

  • Digital Video Codec and Streaming

   Embedded System related:

  • Advanced Microprocessor and computer architecture

  • Embedded System

  • System on Chip design

   VLSI related:

  • Advanced Digital System design

  • Communication and network switching

  • Security Protocol

2. Resource Centre and Technology Hub for nearby institutions.

  • Nearby engineering colleges can access and utilize our CoE infrastructure as charge based.

  • Can develop a joint patents with participated colleges

3. To provide a fair consultancy to industries in DSP, Embedded and VLSI areas. And create a sustainable linkage with core

    industries.

4. Attract and retain Eminent Professors and Researchers in specialized research areas.

5. The Resource Centre, Training, Consultation, Funded Projects, Patent and Technology Transfer will provide good return on

    investment from CoE

6. To conduct regular labs with advanced application oriented experiments in ECE and CSE departments.

  • Digital Lab

  • VLSI Lab

  • Embedded Lab

  • Advanced Microprocessor Lab

  • Computer architecture Lab

  • Digital Signal Processing Lab

  • Digital Image Processing Lab

7. To provide high quality research projects and training to the students for increasing their skill and employability in core

    companies.

  • Communication protocol design such as Ethernet, USB, Audio Codec and Video Codec

  • Steganography and Cryptography algorithm like DES and AES

  • Embedded Systems

  • System-On-Chip (SoC) based application

  • Digital Image and Video processing algorithm like Object Recognition, Segmentation, Feature Extraction, Compression and Streaming
